Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions / TM) and Tom Joyner (Zanardi / TM) battled in the first two laps of the KF final at Kristianstad while Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart / Vortex) was fighting with Juan Correa (Energy / TM) to get back to the leaders. Alexander Vartanyan (Tony Kart / Vortex) stopped on the formation lap after experiencing problems starting, a problem still ongoing in KF after nine seasons of existence. Nielsen quickly seized 2nd place and started in pursuit of Hanley who he passed on lap 6. Later, Marcus Armstrong (Tony Kart / Vortex) decidedly quick this weekend, coming back to 4th position. In a bombshell, Nielsen gave up soon after with a mechanical problem and Armstraong took over the lead of the race ahead of Hannes Janker (CRG / Parilla), Hanley and Joyner.
Joyner was leading the chase of his compatriot Hanley and ended up surpassing him. Richard Verschoor (Exprit / Vortex) came back to the fight after a subdued race start and he also overtook Hanley on lap 16 to gain 4th place. François Becamel (Kosmic / Parilla) gave up after racing in the top 15. Verschoor continued his run and passed Janker for 2nd position. Felice Tiene (CRG / Parilla) also came back strongly, passing Hanley at the end of the race for 5th place.
Meanwhile, Armstrong was heading for his first big CIK international victory, 1.3” ahead of Verschoor, Joyner returned to 3rd, Janker 4th and Hanley returned to 5th ahead of Tiene. Hanley becomes the 2015 European Champion in KF ahead of Joyner, with Verschoor 3rd thanks to his final ascent, with 4th Tiene and Correa 5th.
